Projects in DimensionIQ

A project in DimensionIQ is the top-level container used to organize all work related to a specific estimating job. It acts as the central workspace where drawings, dimension groups, and measurements are managed.

Each project represents a single construction or estimating task, such as a building project, renovation, or tender estimate. All drawings and measurements associated with that job are grouped within the same project to keep information organized and easy to manage.

Projects provide the foundation for the DimensionIQ workflow. Before any drawings can be imported or measurements recorded, a project must first be created.

Within a project you can:

  • Add drawings that contain the plans you will measure from
  • Create dimension groups to organize different types of measurements
  • Record measurements directly from the drawings
  • Track quantities for estimating purposes

Projects also store important configuration settings, such as measurement system (Metric or Imperial) and optional notes, ensuring consistency across all measurements taken within the project.

Only one project can be open at a time, allowing the user to focus on a single estimating job while keeping other projects accessible for later use.

In summary, a project acts as the central structure that connects drawings, measurement folders, and recorded quantities into a single organized estimating workspace.
