Overview
Dimensions in DimensionIQ
Dimensions in DimensionIQ represent the core measurements extracted from a drawing. They are the individual takeoff items such as, lengths, areas, counts, or volumes, that quantify elements within a project.
Each dimension is created through user interaction with the drawing, typically using tools like the Snap Cursor or freehand measurement. Once placed, a dimension stores not only its measured value but also inherits a set of predefined properties from its assigned dimension group, so you can logically structure your measurements based on categories such as Structural, Flooring etc.
Together, dimensions and their groups provide a structured and efficient way to capture, manage, and interpret measurement data directly from drawings.
Viewing and Managing Dimensions
Once you have created a dimension group, click the Dimensions tab to view the dimensions you create.
When you start measuring and adding dimensions to the drawing, they will be highlighted visually in your drawing and listed in the left-hand menu under their assigned dimension group.
You can interact with dimensions in two key ways:
- Hover over a dimension in the drawing to display a HUD showing its properties
- Hover over a dimension in the left-hand menu to display a HUD showing the drawing it belongs to, along with the specific layout within that drawing
